Mortise & Tenon — Fusion add-in
Cuts mortise and tenon joints between two butted boards. Tenons grow out of a face on one board and matching mortises, oversized by a clearance, are cut into the other. The joint is a re-editable custom feature: double-click it in the timeline to change its values. Corners are square, so add your own dogbones. See plan.md for the full spec.
Install
- In Fusion: Utilities → Add-Ins → Scripts and Add-Ins (Shift+S).
- On the Add-Ins tab, click + and pick the
MortiseAndTenon/folder of this repo. - Select MortiseAndTenon and click Run (tick Run on Startup if you like).
The Mortise & Tenon command appears in Solid → Create and Solid → Modify.
Use
- Pick the flat face on the tenon board that butts against the other board.
- Pick the mortise body (the other board).
- Adjust the values, which are filled in from the face:
- Tenons: count (default 2). Tenons always run the board's full thickness.
- Edge margin: distance from each end of the face (default: board thickness).
- Tenon width: size along the face. The default makes tenons and gaps equal, and it's refilled when you change the count or margin.
- Through: tenons go flush through the mortise board. Untick for blind tenons and set Depth (default: half the mortise board).
- Clearance: added to every mortise wall, and to a blind mortise's depth (default 0.005").
- To change the joint later, double-click Mortise & Tenon in the timeline. Upstream changes (for example a thicker mortise board) regenerate it.
